I am always very happy when Mark has a new idea for an exciting photo-shoot. This time, we wanted to take advantage of autumn colours and city lights to create the bokeh effect, or the aesthetic quality of the blur in the out-of-focus areas of a shot. Mark's ability to manipulate shadows and imagine a spectacular look really stood out here, and these shots are particular favourites of mine.
I called this project a lighting experiment as we enjoyed playing with shadows in these shots, and again exploiting the almost desolate spaces that cities have to offer. Believe it or not, we assembled no props for this shoot. All of the materials were just laying around. When I imagine the story behind these shots, I envisage something straight out of the X Files. Anyone agree? Check out more of Mark's work on Instagram @monty_potatoes.
